Call for 2025 awards cycle nominations
The annual UCSF Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Early Career Psychology Clinical Innovation Award was established in 2024 to recognize and celebrate innovative solutions to delivering clinical care resulting in improved access, quality, continuity of care, and/or patient outcomes. This may be accomplished through innovation in clinical practice, novel approaches to intervention, creative approaches to serving underserved populations, or innovation in management or advocacy. An early career faculty psychologist will be given a monetary award of $1,000, and an invitation to give an oral presentation on their work to the department.
Eligibility
All DPBS Assistant Professor faculty who are psychologists across all series (excluding volunteer status) within the ten-year period after completion of the doctorate degree. Note that departmental affiliation must be current at the time the award is given. Awardees must be in compensation plan to receive additional pay, otherwise award will be provided to a faculty discretionary account to support academic activities.
Nominations
Any department faculty or postdoctoral fellow may nominate (including self-nominations) for this award by submitting the following materials to the Psychology Advisory Committee Clinical Subcommittee for consideration.
1) A nominating letter (or bulleted list) of no more than one page describing the candidate’s record of high-impact clinical contributions to the field of psychology and behavioral sciences. Note that up to three other faculty may be included as co-signatories in the nominating letter (one nominating and two supporting), but one is sufficient to support a nomination.
2) The candidate’s CV. May include publication, poster presentation, invited talk, receipt of a contract, grant, or other funding, description of successful quality improvement project, launch of new clinical program, or other evidence to highlight the nominee’s achievement of high impact.
Selection
Application materials will be reviewed by DPBS’s Psychology Advisory Committee Clinical Subcommittee. Applications will be evaluated for clinical excellence based on these criteria:
- Significance of innovation
- Potential for broad impact on the field
