Cassidy tapped as Department of Psychiatry CFO

Paul D. Cassidy, MBA, MS, has been selected as the Chief Financial Officer of the UCSF Department of Psychiatry, effective Monday, June 15. In this new role, Cassidy will be a senior member of the department’s management team, reporting to Associate Chair for Administration and Finance Marie Caffey, MBA.

As CFO, Cassidy will be responsible for all aspects of the department's finances, including research administration, gifts and endowments, and business operations. He will be tasked with developing, planning and implementing viable funding plans to support UCSF Psychiatry’s long-term initiatives, while also supervising the department’s audit management, internal controls, and risk assessment and abatement functions.

Cassidy brings an impressive mix of education and experience to UCSF. He holds a degree in economics and social science from Harvard University, an MBA from Columbia Business School, and recently received an MS in major program management from Oxford University’s Saïd Business School. He has previously brought his expertise to positions with the Harvard University Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology and Columbia University’s Graduate Business School and School of Engineering and Applied Science.

Since 2012, he has served at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, first as Director of Financial and Strategic Resource Planning and most recently as Assistant Dean for Education Finance and Administration. During this time, Cassidy served as the principal business officer for the college’s Medical Education Program, oversaw strategic planning initiatives and financial compliance, and directed personnel across multiple business units.
