Citywide Case Management Services providing resources at new affordable housing complex

The UCSF Citywide RCA Support Services team, part of the Division of Citywide Case Management Services at SFGH, is providing comprehensive mental health, substance abuse, and case management services to the 120 residents of the Rene Cazenave Apartments, a new affordable housing development in San Francisco’s Transbay Redevelopment Area. Many of the complex’s residents, all formerly homeless and referred through the San Francisco Department of Public Health, struggle with significant behavioral health and medical challenges, and have been high users of emergency and institutional resources.

"We recognize that people need to first find safe, affordable, welcoming living arrangements and then be offered on-site clinical services in order to recover past functioning and build meaningful futures," said Citywide division director David Fariello, LCSW. The multi-disciplinary RCA Support Services team integrates intensive case management, primary care nursing, and psychiatry team members to improve outcomes and quality of life for the site’s tenants.

Since 1981, Citywide has been providing comprehensive, wrap-around psychiatric, clinical, and case management services for severely mentally ill residents of San Francisco. The division has expanded to five programs serving over 1,000 clients per year.
