OCD and Tic Disorder Clinic

One in every 50 adults and children have experienced symptoms of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), which is among the top ten causes of disability worldwide among young adults. Tic disorders consist of repetitive, involuntary, and unwanted movements and vocal sounds that cause significant distress and disrupt daily life.

The adult OCD and Tic Disorder Clinic provides specialized treatment for patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), tic disorders, and related conditions. We provide medication management and cognitive behavioral therapy in our resident training and staff clinics. In particular, we specialize in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for the treatment of OCD and Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention Therapy (CBIT) for the treat of tic disorders. We also can provide referrals to our TMS and Neuromodulation Clinic for patients with treatment-refractory OCD, who may benefit from transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and deep brain stimulation (DBS).

For patients needing higher levels of care, we have an intensive outpatient program (IOP) that offers intensive cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and medication management for patients with OCD.

We also are engaged in research to better understand the brain basis of anxiety-spectrum disorders and have a number of ongoing clinical trials of new treatments for patients with OCD and related disorders.
