The UCSF Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences held its 2021 Graduation Commencement Ceremony on Friday, June 18, 2021, to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of our residents, fellows, interns, and other trainees. An archived version is now available for viewing.

About this year's commencement speaker: Alissa Peterson, MD
Dr. Alissa Peterson is a Health Sciences Associate Clinical Professor in the UCSF Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She is a graduate of UCSF School of Medicine and the UCSF Adult Psychiatry Residency Training Program. Since joining the department faculty in 2009, she has been based primarily at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG) on the inpatient psychiatry service. In 2014, she became the Site Director for Psychiatry Residency Training at ZSFG and, in 2015, an Associate Program Director for the residency training program in charge of clinical rotations and program evaluation. Her interest and passion for medical education led to her selection as a Bridges Coach in the School of Medicine in 2017.
Dr. Peterson has won numerous teaching awards over the course of her career at UCSF, including the Haile T. Debas Academy of Medical Educators Excellence in Teaching Award and the American Medical Student Association's Women Leaders in Medicine Award. In 2017, she was inducted into the UCSF Academy of Medical Educators.
