Colleagues, family and friends of Allison J. Doupe, MD, PhD, gathered on Friday, January 23 on the UCSF Mission Bay campus to the celebrate the life and career of the late professor, Vice Chair for Basic Science Research and director of the Center for Integrative Neuroscience. During a full-day memorial symposium, former lab members and colleagues from around the country shared their remembrances of Doupe and how her work has impacted their own careers and research.

Doupe, who passed away in October 2014 due to cancer, joined the UCSF Departments of Psychiatry and Physiology in 1993. In addition to her role as one the preeminent scholars in sensorimotor learning and neural control, she was a mentor to countless young researchers, the vibrant and dynamic leader of systems neuroscience at UCSF, and as many of the symposium’s speakers noted, a tireless champion of women in neuroscience.

Video from all of the research and remembrance presentations are now available on the UCSF Psychiatry YouTube page and photos from the event have been posted on the department’s Flickr page.
