UC San Francisco Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry Jeremy Doughan, PsyD, has been chosen to receive the 2017 Adjunct Faculty Teaching Excellence Award by the American Psychological Association (APA)'s Division 2 (Society for the Teaching of Psychology).
The Society for the Teaching of Psychology's Teaching Excellence awards recognize the contributions of psychology educators working at the high school, undergraduate, and graduate levels. Doughan is the first UCSF faculty member to receive a teaching award from APA Division 2.
The Adjunct Faculty Teaching Excellence Award specifically honors sustained excellence in teaching psychology by individuals who teach part-time at academic institutions. Honorees are chosen based on their ability to teach effectively, stimulate student interest and advancement in the field, commitment to student learning and intellectual growth, and advancement of their own professional identity as a psychology educator.
In addition to his academic role at UCSF, Doughan is a staff psychologist in the Division of Geropsychiatry at the San Francisco VA Medicial Center and an adjunct professor of psychology at the University of San Francisco.
